Wonder Woman’s movie opening in the United States and Australia in May, but the superhero sequel will be in no rush to open on Chinese platforms, according to a new trailer released by Warner Bros. and Warner Bros., in a move that would seem to indicate the film won’t be opening theatres in China for another year.
The video, which was first spotted on Chinese social media site Weibo, shows a woman in a white costume, dressed in a pink cape and wielding a sword, as she walks down the street with the title, “Wonder Woman: War,” as she talks to a young man with a black-and-white Batman mask.
“Wonder Woman is an icon in the world, but her future is uncertain.
Her power lies in her identity,” the woman says in the trailer.
“What we have now is not enough.
We need to create a new one.”
The trailer, which has been viewed nearly 2 million times, also includes footage of the new Wonder Woman costume, which is expected to come in the summer of 2020.
Warner Bros.’ marketing team will be focusing on promoting the movie in China, the company said in a statement.
The Wonder Woman movie has been a hit in the U.S. and Australia with grosses of more than $1.5 billion in China and a domestic total of $3.5 million.
In the United Kingdom, the film has grossed more than £1.2 billion ($2.5-3.2-billion) and grossed $1 billion ($1.9-2.3-billion).
It is currently playing in more than 2,600 theaters in the four major film markets: the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, and Spain.
It is unclear when Wonder Woman 2 will be released.
Warner Brothers released a teaser trailer for the movie a few months ago.
