In a bid to find the best anime character to embody a particular mood or setting, the Japanese translator Traductor translated the anime series Koei Tecmo ‘s characters and the anime themselves for the English-language media.
To do so, Tradctor worked with Anime Expo and Anime News Network Japan to compile a list of the top 15 most popular anime characters in Japan.
The top 15 characters for the first time on this list are: Akatsuki from Fate/stay night, Aoi Minami from Toaru Majutsu no Index, Kagome from Sword Art Online, Sakura from Nisekoi, Mikoto from Bleach, Chie Satonaka from K-ON!, Tsukiyama from Mobile Suit Gundam, Hachiman from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and Ochako from Mobile Armor Gundam.
Among the anime’s other popular characters, some of the most popular in the anime world include Mazuki from Cowboy Bebop, Oto from One Piece, Rin from Naruto, Shiro from One Punch Man, Erie from Sword of the Stranger, Lupin from Fullmetal Alchemist, Andou from Gundam SEED, Seijuro from Gintama, Yui from Onechanbara, Suwa from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Nanami from Yu Yu Hakusho, and Touya Sakamoto from Fate of Kamen Rider: Duel Masters.
To mark the release of the anime on Blu-ray, the original manga was released as an uncut edition in July.
The list is composed of the characters’ roles and their respective anime versions, along with their corresponding anime soundtrack.
This is the first official list of anime characters, as the original list was made in 2006 and has only been updated for the Blu-Ray release.
The anime series’ title comes from the Japanese phrase, 全文を実行となる (Shizuo no ichi no nai) which literally means “the title of the show” in English.
